After a busy August, filled with travel and tons of wonderful food and wine (thank you, Italy), your girl needs a break. I'm dedicating my September to re-centering, refocusing and refueling some areas of my life that fell off during vacation. I'll write more about the spiritual part of that in a different post, but I've shared before that one of my favorite ways to reset my diet and give my body a break is to do a round of the Whole30.
I've shared a bit about rounds I've done in the past, but I wanted to go a step further and share the recipes I'll be using for the entire month. My hope is that anyone thinking about trying it, wanting to add some new recipes to their existing Whole30 lifestyle or just hoping to add some healthier meals to their menu will find some inspiration. I will do most of my cooking on my weekend (Tuesdays and Wednesdays), and I'll share the process on my Instagram story (@morganyoungtv).
I will start my round on Thursday September 5th, with the start of my work week. My last day will be October 4th. I won't be doing the reintroduction part of the program since this isn't my first round. If you're not familiar with the program, I really encourage you to read up on it so you fully understand all of the rules and the reasoning behind them. I've been a huge fan of Whole30 since I did my first round in July 2017.
While I will miss my wine and Hot Cheetos (not together), I am excited to reset my eating habits and feel my best!
How I created my menu.
I broke my menu into 5 weeks, with the 5th week only being about four days. For each week, I have a breakfast recipe, a slow cooker or soup recipe, a lighter recipe and a heartier recipe. So, that adds up to four meals for each week except for the 5th week. I also have some snacks for each week.

Breakfast: Kielbasa and pepper skillet + a scrambled egg + fresh fruit
Slow cooker meal: Sweet and sour meatballs + roasted vegetables
Meal #2: Sheet pan cashew chicken
Meal #3: Garlic butter steak and zoodles (NOTE: sub ghee for butter, sub coconut aminos for soy sauce and make sure you use a compliant hot sauce...sadly not Sriracha)
Snacks: Almond butter (read your labels) + apple slices, baby carrots and deli turkey (read your labels).
Breakfast: Sausage hash brown casserole + fresh fruit
Meal #1: Zuppa toscana (not slow-cooker, but a quick soup)
Meal#2: Chipotle chicken skillet
Meal #3: Meatballs, roasted potatoes and roasted broccoli (or zoodles, if you want simpler)
Snacks: Almond butter + bananas, celery sticks and Lara Bars (read your labels, they're not all compliant)
Breakfast: Bacon veggie skillet + a scrambled egg
Slow cooker meal: Sticky wings + carrot and celery sticks (here's a compliant ranch recipe to make and one you can buy (available at Whole Foods))
Meal #2: Italian zucchini boats
Meal #3: Roasted salmon, green beans + roasted potatoes
Snacks: Jerky, grapes (you can buy this jerky at Whole Foods)
Breakfast: Apricot-basil breakfast meatballs + sweet potato hash (dice two sweet potatoes and one green bell pepper, saute the sweet potatoes in a skillet with ghee until they start to soften and brown, add the bell pepper, add salt to taste and cook until all of the elements are soft and browned)
Slow cooker meal: Jambalaya (read your sausage labels)
Meal #2: Lemon chicken and squash skillet
Meal #3: Pork chops with dijon herb sauce + sweet potato un-stuffing
Snacks: Jerky, almond butter + apple slices
Breakfast: Turkey breakfast skillet+ a scrambled egg
Slow cooker meal: White chicken chili
Meal #2: Salmon and zoodles (I am going to use store-bought spiralized zucchini noodles)
Snacks: Grapes, nuts and compliant deli meat
I am really excited for this round of Whole30. Some of the victories I've had on this program are better sleep, better-fitting clothes, clearer skin, more energy and the awesome feeling of conquering something I once thought I couldn't.
