I decided to commemorate one of my last evenings in Columbia, Missouri by spending an evening browsing the shelves of Barnes & Noble. It was a warm evening, and I had been rolling around in my sheets thinking about all of the change that was to come. My heart was swelling, and my stomach was starting to fill with butterflies and feelings. I didn't know much about the future other than the fact that I was moving to the deep south to tell stories and serve a community, and I was scared. Real scared and real nervous. So, I decided to go to a place where I could find a thing that would remind me that there were things about my heart that I could hold onto because they simply wouldn't move...not even a little. I drove to the bookstore listening to Imagine Dragons and staring into one of the prettiest sunsets (Missouri has a way with sunsets) and thinking about the books that had been on my wish list. I was ready to splurge, indulge and go all out.
I spent an hour scrolling through screenshots I had taken from bloggers' Instagram feeds of books they recommended, my own notes and must-read lists.
It took me that hour, $120 and the help of a very patient sales associate to gather these titles and make them into my happy place of a reading list. While I would like to call this my list for June, I've decided to not play myself because big girl job and adventures and stuff.
These are the titles I'm hoping to get through by the end of the summer at the very latest. (+ I added the links in case you want to check them out).
I'd love to hear your thoughts if you're reading or have read any of these gems!
