Dress: Gabrielle Union for New York & Company (similar here) | Boots: Steve Madden|
Purse: Steve Madden | Sunnies: Target
I recently took a weekend trip to Chicago with my mother and grandmother for my cousin's wedding. I'll be posting deets on my favorite sites and eats on the Adventure tab soon, but I just HAD to share this dress with you guys. I got it a couple of months ago after seeing my co-worker (who is always fabulous...Hi, Ashley) rock it. I instantly fell in love with how strategically slimming it is because of where the wide strip is placed. I also LOVE the shoulder detail. It's a statement, but classic. It's sexy, but it's also elegant. The only problem is it's a little bit TOO much to wear on air for work, and it hasn't been quite cold enough to wear it in Alabama. So, needless to say, I was stoked to hear we'd have a free day in Chicago (where cold temps stick around a bit longer) to explore.
Because the dress itself is a statement, I opted to keep everything else really simple. Silver hoops and a burgundy lip (Sin x MAC) + this adorable circle bag I scooped up from the Steve Madden store during my trip to Austin in March (scroll back up for the link...it comes in a few colors). I couldn't find these exact Steve Madden boots, but I found this pair that's super similar and a great price. If you want a bolder situation, I think these are super cool and fabulous too. ALSO, this dress is now available on sale in a cool green color + there is a sleeveless version in navy and white for spring and summer.
Loved this trip, this look and this day. It also didn't hurt that the queen herself (Gabrielle Union) shouted me out on Instagram. Email me with any questions you've got, and happy shopping!
With Love & Glitter,
